27th April 2016
To celebrate the 400th anniversary of Shakespeare’s death, broadside ballad specialists Alva will perform two Shakespearian ballads from the 16th century, King Lear and Titus Andronicus, in the atmospheric castle yard and crypt of Oxford Castle.
This is a rare opportunity to see Shakespeare’s plays performed in the traditional manner they would have been performed to the public during the Bard’s peak.
There are two performances, at 6pm and 8pm, lasting around one hour and fifteen minutes each.
Tickets are £10 per person
The Castleyard Café will be open for drinks and refreshments during the evening. Spaces are limited, so early booking is advised for what will be this atmospheric musical telling of two of the Bards grimmest tales.
