Join our costumed tour guides as we explore the historic buildings that have witnessed events throughout the decades. Hear tales of a daring medieval escape from St George’s Tower, descend to the crypt to learn Oxford’s connection to King Arthur, and discover the changing role of crime and punishment from the Civil War through to Victorian times and the prison’s closure in 1996.

Don’t worry – your little archaeologists won’t be navigating archaeology alone! They’ll be guided by none other than our costumed character, Daniel Harris, the 18th governor of the Castle & Prison, who played a key role in restoring the incredible 900-year-old crypt.

- Please note that the experience is separate from our guided tours. The experience does not give access to the top of St George’s Tower.
