The Oxford Shakespeare Festival 2024

One summer, three incredible live performances in the heart of Oxford

The Oxford Shakespeare Festival  is back for its 14th year with three outstanding productions, live in the Castleyard throughout the summer.

Romeo & Juliet with Troilus and Cressida

by BMH Productions

17 June  – 29 June

BMH start the Oxford Shakespeare Festival with a double bill, pairing classic tragedy Romeo & Juliet with Greek epic Troilus & Cressida.

Twelfth Night

By Wild Goose Theatre

1 July – 27 July

Following their successful and critically acclaimed production of Romeo and Juliet, Wild Goose Theatre returns to the Oxford Castle and Prison for the 14th year with one of Shakespeare’s best loved plays.

Twelfth Night is one Shakespeare’s great comedies. Separated from her twin brother Sebastian in a shipwreck, Viola disguises herself as a boy, calls herself Cesario, and becomes a servant to the Duke Orsino. A romantic story with mistaken identities, practical jokes, music, dance and song.

by Siege Theatre

29 July – 10 August

In the grandeur of 1920s Denmark, amid the echoes of the Great War, and the ominous shadow of another conflict, Siege Theatre’s summer production of Hamlet places the famed Dane at the heart of a world ripped apart by turmoil and political unrest.
