What Happens When Love Crosses Enemy Lines?

Known for bringing fresh, dynamic and poignant new resonance to Shakespeare's stories, this year Siege Theatre re-imagines Romeo and Juliet against the turbulent backdrop of the American War of Independence.
In a world divided by loyalty, honour, and conflict, love becomes both dangerous and defiant. Families find themselves on opposing sides of a fractured nation, and the star-crossed lovers must navigate:
  • Duty to their country.
  • Allegiance to their families.
  • Devotion to each other.
This bold reinterpretation explores love, identity, and sacrifice in a time when every choice carries consequences. Held within the historic castle grounds, the production promises an emotionally charged and visually striking take on Shakespeare’s most famous love story.

While we do not impose an age restriction, this production may not be suitable for young children and parental discretion is advised. There will be fight scenes featuring stage blood and a gunshot sound effect.

Each performance lasts approximately 2 hours, including the interval.

Yes. Concession tickets (£18) are available for:

  • Students with a valid ID (please note this will be checked on arrival).

Yes, anyone under 18 must attend with an adult aged 18 or above. If they are not accompanied by an adult, they may be denied entry.

In the case of bad weather, the performance will be moved to the New Road Baptist Church on Bonn Square. This is a 5-minute walk from the Castle and has proved a wonderful indoor space in the event of rain. We will communicate the change of venue as early as possible on affected nights and provide escorts for ticket holders waiting at the Castle.

No. The event is a separate, ticketed activity and does not include the guided tour or access to the Mound or St George’s Tower. 

No, a general admission ticket is not required for the event.

Yes, spaces are limited and sell out. We strongly recommend booking in advance to avoid disappointment.

We recommend arriving at least 15 minutes before the performance starts to get the best seats, as seating is not reserved. Doors open from 18:45. 

If you arrive more than 15 minutes late, please note that entry may be denied. If you anticipate being late, contact us at 01865 260663 as soon as possible, and we will do our best to assist you.
