There will be plenty to enjoy over the Oxford Open Doors weekend on 14th and 15th September 2019. The doors to the city of Oxford have been thrown open for all to enjoy! 

There will be plenty to enjoy over the Oxford Open Doors weekend on 14th and 15th September 2019. The doors to the city of Oxford have been thrown open for all to enjoy!

The Oxford Preservation Trust has put together an amazing array of free events and activities accross the city. Including free entry to our guided tours on both Saturday and Sunday. On our castle courtyard you will find a vintage car show and special child friendly activities. The free tours will run from 10am to 5pm, with tours every 20 minutes and lasting one hour. The mound will be free for all to climb too.

Please come along early to guarentee a space on one of the tours as each year we sell out quickly. No advanced bookings can be made, all tours are on a first come first serve basis. Once all spaces on the tours are allocated, we can’t allocate any more. 

Discover Our History

On Saturday 14th and Sunday 15th Spetember come along to the Key Learning Centre at Oxford Castle and Prison. Here you will be able to learn about the huge excavations that took place at the Castle Quarter back in the early 2000’s. You can pick the brains of an archaelogists who helped uncover the artefacts beneth our feet and browse ancient maps of what the city use to look like.

Debbie Dance, OPT’s Director says  “We have such a great programme for you this year. Partnership lies behind the success of the event which could not happen without the University, and the many Oxford places and people who help us, not to mention our amazing volunteers”.

The Oxford Preservation Trust will set up an information hubs at the Oxford Castle and Prison and in Cornmarket. Here you will be able to talk to volunteers who can help plan your day in Oxford.

All events are available on the Oxford Preservation Trust website with brochures also available to pick-up across the City and County. There are also OPT Members only events starting from Monday 9th Septmeber, there is still time to join and enjoy these events.
