Viking Weekend

The Vikings are storming back to Oxford

Step back to the beginnings of Oxford in 1000 CE, when St George’s Tower was first built. Are you ready to unlock your inner Viking?

Join the clan of Ulfhrafnar (meaning “wolf-ravens”) and immerse yourself in a Saxon living history camp. Witness daring Viking battles and explore what life was like during the Saxon era.

👀Experience Saxon life in the living history camp
🧵Learn the crafts and board games that kept them entertained aside from invasions…
⚔️Witness historically accurate Viking battles
🛡️Join the battalion and learn to swing axes, fire arrows, and shield yourself from oncoming attackers.
🧔Have the chance to ask all your pressing Viking questions to the very folk themselves.

As well as our ticketed weapon handling sessions, we’ll also have live demonstrations of Viking and Anglo Saxon crafts in the Castleyard, including literacy and medical displays as well as authentic textile crafts bringing the past to life.
