Hire Terms and Conditions

Oxford Castle & Prison is a Continuum Attraction. Any person booking and/or visiting a Continuum Leading Attractions site/venue does so subject to the following conditions.

General Booking

  1. All bookings remain provisional until a signed confirmation is received either via email, post or fax to confirm the booking and a deposit has been received. The signed Confirmation and deposit must be received at least 28 days prior to the event date.
  2. All bookings that are arranged within 14 days of the visit date must be paid for immediately.
  3. All provisional bookings will be released 7 days prior to the arrival date.
  4. To amend your booking please call us on 01865 260 663 or email info@oxfordcastleandprison.co.uk. Any changes to your booking can be made up to 14 days before the date of your event. Oxford Castle & Prison retains absolute discretion if any changes made within the 14 day period of your event are permitted.
  5. Continuum Leading Attractions reserves the right to alter or withdraw any package facility, exhibit, event, services or price at any of our attractions without notice.

Jailbreak Experience

  1. There is a minimum booking charge of 10 people for this experience.
  2. Only ages 12+ are permitted for this experience.
  3. Prebooking is essential at least 14 days in advance. Any booking enquiries within this are at the discretion of Oxford Castle & Prison. All bookings that are arranged within 14 days of the visit date must be paid for immediately.

Murder Mystery Evening

  1. There is a minimum booking charge of 15 people for this experience.
  2. Prebooking is essential at least 14 days in advance. Any booking enquiries within this are at the discretion of Oxford Castle & Prison. All bookings that are arranged within 14 days of the visit date must be paid for immediately.

Payment

  1. A £120 non refundable deposit must be made for all events.
  2. Full payment will be required 14 days in advance of your event by debit/credit card or BACS transfer. Failure to pay your outstanding balance will result in us releasing your booking.
  3. Payment by debit or credit card should be made by calling Oxford Castle & Prison on 01865 260 663.
  4. If payment is made by bank transfer all bank charges are the responsibility of the customer.
  5. Additional numbers attending to those originally booked must be pre-advised as no guarantee of availability can be given if additional numbers arrive on the day. Increases to booked numbers, services and facilities will be charged at prices applicable at the time of such revision.
  6. Cancellations must be made at least 14 days in advance of your arrival time. All cancellations made within 14 days of the booked visit date will not receive a refund. Cancellation fees are 100% of the booking. To cancel your booking please email info@oxfordcastleandprison.co.uk. Continuum Leading Attractions retains absolute discretion as to whether late cancellations will be charged.

Visiting

  1. Familiarisation visits for private venue hire bookings are available with advance notice and subject to the availability of the team. Please email info@oxfordcastleandprison.co.uk to organise a familiarsation visit for your booking.
  2. Oxford Castle & Prison retains absolute discretion as to whether late arriving groups will be charged. Standard fees for late arrival will be 100% of the booking.
  3. Groups arriving with less people than originally booked will be charged for all pre-ordered numbers.
  4. All items, belongings and other property brought into the Attraction by a group are at the group’s own risk and Oxford Castle & Prison accept no liability for any loss or damage to such property.

REFUSAL OF ENTRY

Oxford Castle and Prison reserve the right to refuse entry or remove any person who:

  • Arrives late for their booking.
  • Is suspected to be under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
  • Does not respect the historical nature of the attraction.
  • Behaves in a manner that is disruptive to the enjoyment of other visitors.
  • Behaves in a manner that compromises the safety of other visitors or staff.
  • Uses verbal or physical threats or insults toward any member of staff.
  • Causes damage or physical disruption to any part of the attraction

Access

The main entrance, Gift Shop and The Key Meeting Room are all fully accessible. All floors of the Prison Wing are accessible by lift. Regrettably, due to the historic nature of the site there is restricted access to St George’s Tower and the Mound. Click here to view our Access Information.
