Oxford Castle and Prison has an amazing underground crypt which is located beneath St. George’s Tower and is said to be one of the most haunted places in Oxford. It was rediscovered during excavation work and reconstructed by prisoners with some of what can be seen today, in fact being much more recent additions to the structure.

Many paranormal enthusiasts have claimed to see spooky sights in the crypt, and one corner, in particular, is said to have a ghost of one of the monks who once worked in the crypt space hundreds of years ago.

As part of the guided tour you venture down into these haunted crypts, and it can even be hired for extra special occasions and events.
