Mary Blandy on Trial (KS2, KS3 and KS4)

KS2: Pupils will learn how a court case works, and re-enact the trial of notorious poisoner Mary Blandy using original evidence to decide if she deserved her fate in the case that scandalized eighteenth century society.

KS3 & KS4: Sift, question and analyse the evidence to decide if Mary Blandy deserved her fate and her notoriety in a retrial of the case that scandalised the county in the 18th Century.

This workshop enables pupils to work in teams and use evaluation and assessment skills to reconsider the evidence against Mary Blandy and put forward persuasive arguments to convince the judge whether she was guilty or innocent.
