Dust off your magnifying glass, brush up your code breaking skills and get ready to put your puzzle-solving skills to the test. Empress Matilda’s crown has been stolen from the castle, and we need your help to track down the thief!

Hunt for clues in and around the Castle & Prison, assemble the facts and uncover the villain, who may still be in the Castle.. Come, the game’s afoot!

FAQS

Where does the event take place?

This event will begin and end inside the exhibition space in the Castle & Prison, but will involve hunting for clues outside in the Castleyard and on the Castle Mound, so please wear appropriate footwear! 

Do we need to book admission to the Castle & Prison as well?

You do not need to book general admission tickets to take part in this event, but if you would like to join a tour to see the rest of the castle and prison, tickets can be booked here. Please note that due to steep steps and one-way access, children under 5 are unable to climb St George’s tower.

What will happen if the weather’s bad?

We will still be going ahead with the event if the weather is bad and will not be rescheduling.
