The summer holidays are almost upon us which means six whole weeks of finding things to entertain the children. Look no further. We’ve put together our top six summer events in Oxfordshire, one for each week!

1. Kids go FREE
Thursday 21 July – Friday 2 September
Oxford Castle Unlocked, 44-46 Oxford Castle, Oxford. OX1 1AY

Families out and about during the summer holidays, listen up! This summer at Oxford Castle Unlocked, children will enjoy FREE entry, taking a tour with the whole family, exploring the 1000 year old castle prison with a compelling costumed character tour guide. This offer is valid on weekdays only from Monday 25 July to Thursday 1 September. Offer is valid for one free child when accompanied by a full paying adult. Online booking only.

2. World Explorer Treasure Hunt

Throughout August
Cotswold Wildlife Park and Gardens, Bradwell Grove, Burford, Oxfordshire. OX18 4JP

Keepers will be doing a daily talk throughout August at 2pm near the Rhino Paddock about these magnificent animals, the threats and the conservation work that is going on to try and protect them for future generations.

4. Summer Story Safari
Monday 25 July – Friday 29 July 2016, 11.30am and 2.30pm
Story Museum, Rochester House, 42 Pembroke Street, Oxford. OX1 1BP

Take a special safari through our Animal exhibition to spot some secret creatures.

Gather at base camp to receive your equipment, listen to our special safari story and sharpen your tracking skills. Then set off in search of some elusive animals, using objects in your safari rucksack to help you. A great way for all the family to experience our Animal exhibition and create their own story together.

5. Beach Fun at Millets Farm Centre
Daily until Sunday 4 September 2016

The beach is back at Millets Farm Centre and it’s bigger and better than ever before! FREE to use, it is open all day every day over the summer and even comes complete with giant outdoor games and a Beach Hut Cafe.

6. Oxford in the Great War – Family Thursdays

Drop-in every Thursday from 28 July to 25 August for free activities to discover more about Oxford and WW1 at Oxford’s Great War exhibition. Make your own soldier’s medal and explore the exhibition with a gallery trail.
