Interesting, informative and enjoyable. The included guided tour was a bonus and Bryony and Sophia were articulate, well rehearsed, friendly guides. The opportunity to stay downstairs and watch a video rather than climb the steep spiral stairs was very welcome and the climb up the mound at the end gave us the alternative chance to see the views over Oxford. The castle holds so much history and is full of vivid examples of prison life through the ages. Really enjoyable.

A must to do when in Oxford. It was a very informative and engaging tour, we thoroughly enjoyed it. Our tour guide Aidan was fantastic, loved his energy!

Fun and exciting day out with the family This is such a brilliantly fun and interesting day out with the family. Loved every minuite. The kids got stuck into the history as did we. Thoroughly recommend!

Miss it and you are missing out! Having lived in and around Oxford for our entire life, we’ve never been to the Castle & Prison before but we’re glad we did! There is so much history encapsulated here, and our knowledgeable guide (Jade) did a wonderful job of telling us the complete back story in our tour of the site. So many visitors to Oxford must come for the Universities and Colleges, but if they miss the Castle & Prison then they’ve missed out on an opportunity to learn about the history Oxford. An added bonus is that the tour is largely (excluding the Tower) indoors so when the British weather isn’t playing ball this represents the perfect opportunity to dodge the showers and expand your knowledge. There was also an activity for the kids in full swing when we did our tour with a specific shout out to the “Dragon Master” (Tommy) was putting smiles on the faces of the parents and children alike with his stories and interactions.
